Edmundo Dasilva is a potential predator that was caught in the Polk County, Florida sting on Takedown with Chris Hansen. He is best known for acting insane when caught by police, as well as working for Homeland Security.
Biography[]
Edmundo Dasilva was born in Venezuela. He later moved to the United States with his parents and lived in Florida. Dasilva was a gamer and had an Xbox.[1] He would later move to Holly Springs, North Carolina. He had recently become a newlywed. He worked for Homeland Security as a Transportation Security Officer. Specifically, he checked bags and people at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.[2] He was on vacation with his wife, presumably visiting family.
Chat[]
Thirty-seven-year-old Dasilva answered an ad in Polk County, Florida, initially assuming that it was for a paid sexual encounter. When the undercover cop replied, they claimed this was instead for his fifteen-year-old daughter, who was willing to have sex for sixty dollars. Dasilva asked the man if she could give him oral sex and masturbate him, to which the man agreed on his alleged daughter's behalf. Dasilva lied and told the man he had just turned eighteen. Dasilva then asked the man where to meet up, and the man told him to come to a hotel nearby.
Sting[]
Dasilva entered the hotel lobby and met the undercover cop posing as the girl's father. From that moment, Dasilva started acting quiet, and the man gave Dasilvia a key to the room with his "daughter." The "father" tried to talk with Dasilva more, but he just said to be quiet. Dasilva went to the hotel room, where he squealed when he was tackled, handcuffed, and arrested by cops. Dasilva, from that moment on, started sweating profusely. The cop set him down on one of the chairs in the room and said she just wanted to talk to Dasilva, but he kept sweating and screaming at the top of his lungs. He yelled at the detective, saying things like, "I did not do anything!" over and over and over again, without drawing breath. This lasted for at least five minutes. Finally, the detective told him that he was being arrested for soliciting a minor.
Dasilva kept screaming. The detective told him to stop, but he did not. Dasilva then pleaded with the detective that he had no money to pay the "father." The detective told him they would figure all of it out. Dasilva then claimed the cops were entrapping him since he had no sexual nature in the chat, and the detective told him they would figure that out too. Dasilva pleased to be let go, but the cops refused. The detectives told Dasilva that if he did not stop screaming, he was going to get an extra charge of disturbing the peace since they were in a hotel room with people who were trying to relax. Regardless, Dasilva kept screaming, and at that point, the detectives brought him up and took him to the police station. As Dasilva walked out of the car to go to the police station, he spotted Chris Hansen and his camera crew and kept screaming that they could not film him. When Dasilva arrived at the station, he spoke to the police, although his interrogation has not yet been released, leaving the discussion's nature unknown.
After Dasilva talked to the police, they put him down on a bench and kept him handcuffed. Chris Hansen sat across from him and said he wanted to speak to him. Dasilva, freaking out, got up and walked towards the door. The detective told him he could not leave and put him back on the bench. He started to scream at Hansen, arguing he had no right to film Dasilva. Hansen then disputed that he had every right to film Dasilva and that he had been doing these investigations for a while. Hansen then told Dasilva he would be on television, giving him a chance to explain himself. Dasilva told Hansen he did nothing wrong, and Hansen told him he read the chats and knew what he said to the undercover cop. Dasilva then asked, "What kind of show is this?" and Hansen said, "This is a story about predators like you, Edmundo." Hansen then ended the interview with Dasilva since he was refusing to co-operate.
Aftermath[]
Dasilva was charged with human trafficking, use of a computer to solicit a guardian, traveling to meet a minor, and using a two-way communications device to commit a felony.[3] [4]On July 10th, 2024, he was granted bond under strict stipulations, such as only being able to leave his standard house arrest to "shop with his father once a week on Sundays from 3pm - 4pm." His case is still pending, where he was able to delay, not avoid, justice until July, 2025. Since he is a foreign national, he could be deported following his conviction.
As of March 3, 2025, Edmundo's marriage was officially nullified, where the court records showed that they actually separated March 25th, 2024.
Trivia[]
