Danny Lee Swinney is an unaired potential predator caught in the Riverside, California edition of To Catch a Predator. He is best known for being caught by Perverted Justice twice. He is also known being one of many unaired Riverside Predators whose uncut interview remains lost.

Encounters with Perverted Justice[]

First encounter[]

Months before he was caught during the sting, in September of 2005, Swinney communicated with a Perverted Justice decoy posing as a thirteen-year-old boy in a Las Vegas chatroom. He asked the boy if he liked older men and offered to pick him up and take him to his hotel room. When the boy explained that he would not be in town when Swinney wanted to meet, Swinney casually told the decoy "maybe next time."

Second encounter[]

In January of 2006, Swinney communicated with another Perverted Justice decoy who was also pretending to be a thirteen-year-old boy. He immediately asked the decoy if he could transmit a "normal" photo rather than a naked one. Swinney then asked the decoy if he enjoyed massages while were conversing and then offered to give him one. He continued by saying he wished to massage the boy's naked body. Swinney also said he would use lotion when performing the massage. Swinney promised to bring condoms after the two scheduled a meeting.

Sting and aftermath[]

While his interview was not featured in the Riverside story in the episode, Swinney is seen quite a bit. He can be seen approaching the home and (his first appearance in the episode) peeking through the curtain and saying, "Brian? Hello? Brian?" before entering, and Del Harvey yelling to take a seat.

Details regarding Swinney's lost interview with Chris Hansen remain vague, although fans who saw the interview on the MSNBC subscription service claim he sat down and spoke to Hansen for about a minute. Like Greg Karnos, however, he abruptly ran out of the house, with Hansen most likely yelling, "Sir?" simultaneously.

Swinney is also seen in the episode being taken into custody on the driveway in the episode. Swinney denied having anything on him as he was being patted down and led away from the house by police officers. He was heard saying, "No, sir," when the officer asked him a question.

Swinney was charged with a felony count of attempted lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age. His bail was set at $50,000.[1] Swinney was eventually convicted of the charge.[2] He was sentenced to six months in jail 5 years of probation, and was required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.[3][4]
